Educational workshop
A joint workshop between the Illinois River Watershed Partnership, Grand River Dam Authority, the University of Arkansas Cooperative Extension, the city of Siloam Springs and Ivory Bill Brewing will be held from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 18, at Ivory Bill Brewing. The workshop will cover how a person’s lawn impacts the world beyond the block and learn how to incorporate storm water into landscaping to improve water quality. The first 25 households in Siloam Springs to register will take a free. pre-built rain barrel home. Please bring a copy of the mail invitation or a Siloam Springs utility bill to pick up the rain barrel. People who live Siloam Springs are welcome to attend. Pageant application due date
Applications for the Colcord Sugar and Spice Youth Pageant need to be turned in by Feb. 17. Applications may be picked up at various school offices, G and D One Stop in Colcord, Okla, and Pioneer Pizza in Gentry. The entry fee is $30 with an extra $5 for the photogenic category. Republican Women to meet
Siloam Springs Republican Women will meet Monday, Feb. 20, at New Life Church, 1611 Cheri Whitlock Dr. The speaker will be Cindy Acree of Bentonville, who is the Director of Habitat for Humanity for Northwest Arkansas. Bookstore at the Library
The Bookstore at the Siloam Springs Public Library is open 10 a.m.4 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Saturday. Donations of used books and DVDs in good condition are always welcomed, especially materials of interest to children and teens. The Bookstore is operated by Friends of the Library and all proceeds are used to benefit the library. Everyone is welcome to come and shop in this little hidden corner of Siloam Springs. Friends of the Library seeks and welcomes new members who desire to join their organization and further its mission by volunteering or fundraising. Information about membership is available at the library.
SSRH Auxiliary seeking volunteers
Siloam Springs Regional Hospital Auxiliary is looking for willing volunteers for the Information Desk, Gift Shop, SAC, Labor and Deliver Department. The auxiliary offers an opportunity to help the community while working three or four hours a week.
