Get­ting into the back-to-school rou­tine af­ter a wild ’n’ crazy sum­mer is some­thing I al­ways look for­ward to! This year my daugh­ter starts high school, and with her busy sched­ule, here’s how I feed the fam whole­some, yummy meals fast.

We do week­night menu themes. Think Meat­less Mon­days, Tor­tilla Tues­days, Restau­rant Copy­cat Wed­nes­days, etc. We all plan meals and switch up our nights ev­ery month.

In­stead of a full din­ner, some­times we feast on fin­ger foods. Cheese and crack­ers, veg­gies, hum­mus, ap­ple wedges, Mini Zuc­chini Piz­zas (page 98)—all good, with only a lit­tle assem­bly re­quired!

Sit-down meals are a pri­or­ity, no mat­ter what’s on the ta­ble. The food is sec­ondary to con­nect­ing through great con­ver­sa­tion, laugh­ter and smiles. Cheers to that!
