Sheila Suhan shares how she turned a love-it-or-leave-it hol­i­day treat into a bite-sized ver­sion her fam­ily adores.

What made you think to turn fruit­cake into cook­ies?

I had a few left­over in­gre­di­ents af­ter mak­ing my fa­vorite fruit­cake, so I de­cided to in­cor­po­rate them into a raisin cookie. My fam­ily won’t eat the fruit­cake, but the fruit­cake cook­ies sure didn’t last long!

Q: What do you most look for­ward to at Christ­mas?

A: Each year my fam­ily gath­ers on Christ­mas Eve for a big seafood feast, and I look for­ward to pre­par­ing our fa­vorite fried oys­ters and shrimp with to­mato cream sauce for that spe­cial oc­ca­sion.
