Q: What in­spired you to make this straw­berry-packed ge­lato? & A After tak­ing an ice cream/ge­lato work­shop in Walla Walla, Wash­ing­ton, I was in­spired to cre­ate my own recipe. I re­ceived an ice cream maker at­tach­ment as a Christ­mas gift from my brother, and us­ing tech­niques I learned in class, I ad­justed a recipe us­ing fresh straw­ber­ries picked from my mom’s gar­den.

What else do you like to whip up when spring comes along?

I love to make veg­gie piz­zas us­ing all the fresh pro­duce pop­ping up around that time—my all-time fa­vorite spring veg­etable is as­para­gus.
