Simple & Delicious - - FROM THE EDITORS -

We’re in a back-to-school frenzy get­ting two kids off to col­lege. I al­ways make their most-loved meals be­fore they go. Af­ter we help them move in, I have time to in­dulge in some of my fa­vorite ac­tiv­i­ties:

The first thing I do af­ter school starts is send my kids care pack­ages filled with their go-to food items, a gift card and a home­made treat. This year I’m bak­ing up the de­li­cious Caramel Ap­ple Muffins on page 52 to give them a lit­tle taste of home—if I don’t eat them all first!

I love to join friends at out­door con­certs, where we en­joy good food and wine. We set a fancy ta­ble com­plete with can­dles, and we each bring a dish to share. It’s a won­der­ful time to try new recipes, so for the next con­cert I’ll be bring­ing the Chicken Cor­don Bleu Strom­boli on page 84.

Com­ing to the end of farm­ers mar­ket sea­son is bit­ter­sweet. I’ll savor the last pro­duce of sum­mer by cook­ing with as many fresh toma­toes as I can, es­pe­cially in recipes such as the Ba­con, Let­tuce and Tomato Pizza on page 22.
