Documenting the newly vulnerable snowy owls in Utqiagvik, Alaska, required some late nights for the conservation photographer. On location way above the Arctic Circle, where there’s 24 hours of daylight during the summer, Groo found a “gorgeous golden light” shone out around midnight. The stunning results of those nocturnal photo shoots accompany “Flight of the Hunter” (p. 38).
