Doc­u­ment­ing the newly vul­ner­a­ble snowy owls in Utqi­agvik, Alaska, re­quired some late nights for the con­ser­va­tion pho­tog­ra­pher. On lo­ca­tion way above the Arc­tic Cir­cle, where there’s 24 hours of day­light dur­ing the sum­mer, Groo found a “gor­geous golden light” shone out around mid­night. The stun­ning re­sults of those noc­tur­nal photo shoots ac­com­pany “Flight of the Hunter” (p. 38).
