Héctor Tobar

-

Throughout his career as a writer, the Angeleno has covered “how people from humble backgrounds find ways to become actors in the civic drama and public debate.” That’s why he was drawn to writing about the organizers of the Alianza Nacional de Campesinas and “their journey into a sense of their own power”

(p. 48). A former Los Angeles Times reporter, whose breaking news team won a Pulitzer Prize for reporting on the 1992 Los Angeles riots, Tobar is now a professor at UC Irvine.
