Jeffery Salter

A former photographer for the New York Times, Salter has covered several conflicts abroad. The essential part of documenting survivors of painful experiences is to remember “they’re more than what they went through,” he says. He used that same humanizing approach when photographing the teenage survivors of the Parkland shooting (p. 34). “It’s really remarkable that they’re willing to lend their voices to something larger than themselves.”
