Meet Ben Potts
Hello everyone, My name is Benjamin Potts and I am honored to say I am the new Ranger for the Pembina Gorge State Recreation Area near Walhalla, ND. I am very excited for this amazing opportunity and am looking forward for the many
come. A little bit about myself. I was born in Laramie, WY and grew up in Devils Lake, ND. I grew up with a family that was very active in outdoor recreational activities such as hunting, fishing, trapping, hiking, trail riding etc. With my passion for the outdoors I decided I wanted a career somewhere in the natural resource field. I graduated high school in 2007 and attended Lake Region State College for two years then transferred to Valley City State University where I received my Bachelors of Science in Fisheries and Wildlife Management in 2013. In the summer months beginning in high school and ending recently I worked as a seasonal for three different agencies gaining broad and valuable experience. My first three summers were spent at Sully’s Hill National Game Preserve as an YCC member. In college I worked for the North Dakota Game and Fish in Devils Lake as a wildlife technician for two summers and at the Pembina Gorge State Recreation Area as a trail crew member for the past five summers. With taking over this position I see some needs ahead for which I am happy and excited to fulfill. I will be doing the Snowmobile and OHV certification in this part of the state so I look forward to meeting many of you and working with you in near future. In addition to that, some goals I have are to keep in constant contact with the communities and clubs around the state, to educate the public in Federal, State and local laws, and to keep the trail systems a safe and friendly environment for all to enjoy.
Have a safe and happy winter season, Benjamin Potts
