B&B’S Heather Tom weighs in on Katie’s three wedding dresses.
✿ “I loved my first dress [to Bill, in 2009]. That first dress was so me. I loved the cocktail length. I loved that it had a retro vibe. If Heather got married at that age [I would wear it] — I got married a lot later than that so my dress was different. It was blush because who was I kidding? I’d lived with my husband for 14 years [laughs] — but I loved that dress.”
✿ “My second wedding dress to Bill [in 2015], I didn’t love as much. It had a leather appliqué, which I thought was interesting for Katie, but the silhouette of it, I didn’t love, even though it came from Glenda [Maddox], our incredible, multiple EmmyAward-winning costume designer, whose stuff I love. I just felt that it wasn’t me at all. It was really uncomfortable to wear. I didn’t mind the leather cutouts that Glenda did. I thought it was interesting, but I’m not sure if it all came together for Katie.” ✿ “This [recent] one [to Thorne] is fun. It shows a little leg in the front. I like that, because I like my legs. It’s just really pretty. I think it’s flattering and I feel comfortable in it. I’m very happy with this one. It definitely has a wedding vibe, but it’s not like a giant ball gown wedding dress. They did want to keep it casual. This is the third time Katie has gotten married, and only the second man she ever married. She’s been engaged before, but this is a big deal to her, and I think the dress shows that.”
