DAYS: BRADY IS HELD CAPTIVE

-

■ Brady’s determination to help Sami find out if EJ is still alive leads him to Nashville, where he discovers a mystery patient. “He knows Sami is in pain and needs to know the truth, and he feels he can find it out through Kristen — that she will eventually confide in him, if he can get close enough to her,” explains Eric Martsolf (Brady). “That’s his latest mission.”

Upon tracking Kristen down, “Brady gets as close as he can [to that truth],” notes Martsolf. “But before he can confirm the mystery guy’s identity, see whether or not it’s EJ, Xander knocks him out.”

When Brady comes to, “He’s tied up in a chair and has Kristen looming over him waving a gun in his face,” continues Martsolf. “She’s upset. She truly does, in her heart of hearts, want this to work with Brady, and she was under the understanding that he did, too. Now, she thinks he’s been playing her.”

Specifically, using her as a means to an end to find EJ. “Brady tries to talk his way out of it,” says Martsolf. “But this has been their relationship from day one. It’s the cat-and-mouse thing. They both kind of play this game with each other, yet the crux of the whole relationship is real feelings. They end up having a very dramatic conversation about their future, their present and their past. And, at the end of the day, Brady actually is completely honest with her. It’s pretty intense and very much a pinnacle point in their relationship: whether it’s going to proceed or whether it’s going to end at that moment.”

Brady asks Kristen, pointblank, if EJ is indeed alive, “but she will not give up that information,” contends Martsolf. Instead, she decides to leave Brady behind, while she and Xander head off to move the patient.

Meanwhile, Sami, who’s been on her own search for the truth about EJ, ends up discovering Brady. She immediately accuses him of being in cahoots with Kristen, although Brady insists he isn’t. “Sami’s having a hard time believing him, because he left town with Kristen,” shares Martsolf. “She’s aware of the history between them and doesn’t think Brady is being completely sincere. So she is very reluctant to help him.”

Brady attempts to convince Sami of his sincerity by telling her that he discovered a mystery patient in a wheelchair, earlier. “Sami wants to know if it’s EJ, but Brady can’t confirm or deny that,” declares the actor. “He says it looked like EJ, that the guy was the same stature and size, but he got knocked out before he could confirm who it was.”

Unconvinced that Brady’s on her side, Sami takes off, leaving him behind. “She’s like, ‘I can do this myself,’ ” recounts Martsolf. “Brady’s feeling pretty deserted. All he wants to do is help find EJ, but he ends up locked up in this room, pounding on the walls. And his own sister has left him there.”
