GH: Ava Gets Revenge On Kiki

-

■ Ava lives up to the adage that hell hath no fury like a woman scorned when she drugs Griffin and Sasha and arranges for Kiki to find them in bed together.

Explains Co-head Writer Shelly Altman, “Ava wants Kiki to hurt the way she hurts. She just can’t get past what she sees as the ultimate betrayal.” Altman acknowledges that “this isn’t their first rodeo,” as Ava was on the flip side of this equation when she bedded Kiki’s beau, Morgan. But, offers Co-head Writer Chris Van Etten, “I feel like Ava chalks that up to the circumstances at the time. Ava, to me, is a great pretzel. In order to protect her view of herself, she knows how to twist circumstances and her own feelings to fit her vision. She sees this as an almost premeditated betrayal on the part of Kiki and Griffin.”

Griffin is having a good day before his run-in with Ava: His relationship with Kiki is going well, he’s hopeful that the G.H. higherups will lift his suspension, and he thinks Ava’s rancor will eventually blow over. “Griffin is a man of faith,” Altman notes. “He understands Ava’s anger and hurt, but he does believe that time will heal his wounds. I guess somewhat naively, he doesn’t imagine that she can do anything, really, to hurt them.”

Kiki’s faux half sis, Sasha, also falls victim to underestimating Ava’s capacity for ruthlessness, even though she has called Ava out for setting her up to believe that Griffin’s involvement with Kiki wasn’t serious. “She realizes that she was duped and she doesn’t appreciate it,” Altman says. “She is trying to like the people in Port Charles who are a new family to her. But she has no idea just how used she’s about to be.”

After placing her victims in a compromising position, Ava uses an unsuspecting Franco to deliver the (fake) news to Kiki that Griffin is cheating on her. “She is trying to keep her hands clean, and she also doesn’t think Kiki would believe her,” Altman notes. “She would rather it come from a more trusted source, ironically, Franco being the trusted source,” she chuckles. “And if it has her crawling back to Ava, so much the better,” adds Van Etten. Nods Altman, “Ava thinks that she can comfort her daughter, and maybe they can come back together in a way of understanding that they, at this moment, do not share.”

When Franco warns Kiki that Griffin is being unfaithful, “She finds it hard to believe and she wants to confront Sasha,” Altman continues. “But in so doing, she finds what appears to be confirmation.” In the end, the scribe says, “Ava’s plan has explosive results for many people.”

“Ava wants Kiki to hurt the way she hurts.”
