Y&R: Mariah Learns The Truth About J.T.
■ Mariah reels from Tessa’s confession that she got her stash of cash by blackmailing Sharon, Victoria, Nikki and Phyllis about J.T.’S death. “Mariah was just coming to terms with the idea that her life was finally in a stable place and settling down,” says Camryn Grimes (Mariah). “She’s moved in with Tessa and created something that’s solid and secure. Mariah was getting comfortable, and wouldn’t you know it, everything is turned upside down again.”
Mariah now has two problems to contend with: Her mom being involved in a murder cover-up, and Tessa resorting to extortion. “This is all so painful and stressful for Mariah,” sighs Grimes. “Now, she has to tackle both of these issues and confront the people she loves. Mariah has to deal with what Sharon has done and didn’t tell Mariah about — this terrible, horrible thing — and she has to deal with what Tessa did to someone Mariah loves. It’s this circle of deception and disappointment that surrounds Mariah.”
Mariah decides to talk to Sharon right away. “Mariah can maybe understand what Tessa did because she was desperate to help her sister, but Mariah doesn’t understand why Sharon got involved with this J.T. thing,” notes Grimes. “Mariah needs to

get to the truth, so she can fully understand the situation that her mother is now embroiled in.”
Mariah shows up at Sharon’s house and announces that she knows what happened to J.T. When Sharon dodges her daughter’s questions, Mariah becomes impatient. “Mariah already went through this stonewalling with Tessa, so she’s just not having it with Sharon,” Grimes declares. “She’s tired of having to jump through hoops. She just wants the truth from the people whom she loves and used to trust the most.”
Mariah then recounts how Sharon and the other women brought J.T.’S body from Victoria’s house to Chancellor Park, where they buried him. Sharon is gobsmacked as Mariah asks for the truth. “This whole thing gets more complicated when more people get involved,” Grimes points out. “Little does Mariah know, she’s opening the door to some pretty unbelievable secrets!”
