B&B: RIDGE FIGHTS FOR HIS MARRIAGE

-

■ After Bill declines to call the police on him for a second time, Ridge is certain that his enemy’s newfound benevolence is an attempt to win back Brooke. “Bill’s about as transparent as a piece of cellophane,” quips Thorsten Kaye (Ridge). “After he discovers the link between Ridge and the judge, Bill tries to hold it over Ridge’s head that he didn’t call the cops, but it’s not having the desired effect. Ridge knows that he’s only acting that way to show off for Brooke.”

Regardless of Bill’s motives, Ridge stands his ground. “Ridge doesn’t think he’s in the wrong, which is why he’s not all that concerned about Bill’s threats,” Kaye shrugs. “You’re never that worried about getting caught if you’re doing something you believe in. In the fight, Bill threw the first punch and Ridge was just defending himself. With the custody case, Bill told the judge, ‘I’m warning you .... ’ His attitude is the reason he lost the case! It wasn’t because of anything Ridge did. Bill has no one to blame but himself.”

Unfortunately for Ridge, his wife doesn’t see it that way. “Brooke thinks Ridge is doing all of this because

“It’s enough for him to seriously question her loyalty.”

he hates Bill, but that’s not true,” Kaye notes. “He’s doing all of this because he hates what Bill does to other people. So, if the consequences are getting locked up for a little while, as long as the kid stayed safe from Spencer, then it would have been worth it. It’s just frustrating to him that Brooke doesn’t see it that way.”

Kaye adds that Brooke’s loyalty to her ex does concern Ridge. “If somebody keeps showing you who they are, after a while you’ve got to believe them,” he points out. “If Brooke keeps saying how she feels for Bill and what a good guy he is deep down, well, after a while, it’s hard to keep fighting that fight. As Ridge reminds her, somehow she can forgive Bill for all of the things he has done to her husband, but she can’t forgive any of the things that Ridge has done to him? It’s enough for him to seriously question her loyalty.”

However, with the Thanksgiving holiday upon them, Ridge chooses to be thankful for his marriage and is willing to fight for it. “We all know that this guy loves his wife,” Kaye notes. “As far as Brooke goes, Ridge is completely in love with this woman and he’ll forgive as much as he can — until he can’t. And hopefully, that day will never come.”
