Rafe guarded a pregnant Sami, who was in an FBI protection program after witnessing the mayor’s murder at the Dimera mansion. Marlena stopped John from shooting the mayor’s killer and ordered him to get help for his sudden behavioral changes, or stay away from her. Kate, who’d been diagnosed with lung cancer, was released from the hospital and enjoying a welcome home party hosted by Lucas, Chloe and Chelsea when Daniel arrived with ominous news: Her cancer had spread. Maggie invited wild child Melanie to stay at her house, per Nick’s request, while Philip offered Melanie a job as an administrative assistant at Titan.
2003: Celeste began receiving messages from Caroline, who had been “murdered” by the Salem Stalker, warning that more deaths were imminent. Marlena had a seizure and collapsed, but was miraculously cured when Lexie injected her with a drug that Celeste assured would be life-saving. The truth about Rex and Cassie’s parentage was revealed when Sami blurted out to everyone that the twins were Roman’s children, and Cassie finally ’fessed up that Kate was their biological mother. Bo received a message from the killer warning that the Bradys’ Thanksgiving celebration would be canceled due to a death in the family, but Hope insisted they go on with the holiday as planned. Cassie figured out the identity of the stalker, putting her life in grave danger, while Celeste had a horrifying vision of the next murder. At Salem Place, Cassie’s “dead” body tumbled out of a turkey piñata, while Kate stood beneath it holding a bloody knife.
1998: Sami prepared to go on trial for the murder of Franco Kelly. Roman suspected that Kate had information about what really happened that fateful night and was determined to get it out of her. Shawn sensed that Hope wasn’t the same since she returned from Europe, and he was right: She had been brainwashed with Princess Gina’s memories. An unsuspecting Bo planned a romantic surprise for his wife. Vivian set a date for her wedding to Stefano, who was controlling her via an implant in her tooth.
