MOSLEY BACK TO B&B

-

■ Karla Mosley (Maya) is back to work following her maternity leave and cheerfully says, “Having a baby is probably the only thing that could keep me away from here.” The actress and her partner, John Rogers, welcomed their first child, daughter Aurora Imani, on August 17, and Mosley couldn’t be happier. “It is the best job,” she beams. “And I love my work, so having both in my life is something I hold near and dear to me.”

The new mom now brings the baby to work, explaining, “I walked in my first day back and I did not have her with me. I wasn’t sure what it would be like and I thought I should be focused on the work and ease myself back in but everyone was like, ‘What are you doing here by yourself? Where is the kid?’ Every time I come in without her, people ask, ‘Is she coming today?’ It’s really lovely, and it just reminds me I’m very blessed to be working here.”

Mosley credits the cast and crew with helping her have a smooth transition back to the screen. “From the top down, everyone here has been so supportive,” she praises. “Even more than the sage advice I’ve gotten, I really appreciate the on-the-spot help, like, ‘Oh, I’ll hold her,’ or ‘Let’s make a playdate!’ [Katherine] Kelly [Lang, Brooke] just had a granddaughter and she’s like, ‘Let’s definitely get them together!’ So, it’s a really lovely thing.”

The only bump in the road, Mosley shares, is a problem to which many new mothers can relate. “I will say, the toughest part is when to pump,” she laughs. “I’m sorry if I’m being too graphic, but it’s true. It is the hardest thing of being a working new mom. You need time to sneak away so if we do have a 5 or 10-minute break, I don’t get to go to the bathroom or have a snack like I did before. No, I go and feed my kid, so that has been a new challenge that I did not expect.”

“I’m very blessed to be working here.”
