BEST COUPLE I ELIZABETH AND FRANCO, GH

-

In years past, “Friz” has been challenged mostly by crises of Franco’s own making (Tom Baker in a dog cage, anyone?). As 2018 got underway, Franco was keeping another big secret — but from himself as much as Liz, as he struggled with patchy childhood memories that made him fear he’d tried to kill Drew when they were kids. Liz sensed he was holding back, leading to a brief split for the best possible reason: She knew she deserved better. Happily, we saw their bond mature and solidify as Franco came to realize that he’d been a victim of sexual abuse as a boy (and had tried to protect Young Drew from suffering the same fate); we saw Franco learn to trust Liz completely, and by so doing, become worthy of her faith. They were light on story for the majority of 2018, but what screen time they did have was packed with tenderness and intimacy, and as they headed toward their now twice-postponed wedding, their family unit with her three sons flourished (they even had refreshingly real talks about co-parenting). Franco and Liz are now the most rock-solid duo in Port Charles — totally in love, totally committed, and each other’s biggest fan and best friend.
