Like Victor and Nikki, Nick and Sharon’s epic love story of 23 years has been full of romance and infidelity, thrills and tragedy, but this enduring couple always found a way back to each other. Even though they got re-engaged (and assured Faith that this time, their reunion would stick), trouble was brewing in almost paradise, what with Sharon keeping Nick in the dark about her role in the J.T. cover-up and Nick showing new, Victoresque colors that Sharon wasn’t entirely comfortable with. But what ended up blowing their relationship to bits was that while the duo was on a brief (as in, a matter of hours) break, Nick hit the sheets with Phyllis. On the very day they were slated to say, “I do,” Mariah broke the bad news of the tryst to her mom. While Sharon was devastated, it seemed like she was willing to let it slide when she showed up in her bridal gown and made her way down the aisle. But midway through her vows, Sharon had a change of heart. “You can’t love, honor, and cherish me, Nick, while you’re cheating on me with Phyllis!” she thundered. It was a spectacular public display of ... whatever the opposite of affection is. The high-octane split gave us all the melodrama that was lacking in Mr. Newman’s other broken engagement (below).
