BIGGEST TEARJERKER I I NATHAN’S FUNERAL, GH

-

Ryan Paevey’s exit as heroic Nathan set the stage for a three-hanky good-bye that brought out the very best in GH’S cast and crew. After taking a bullet in the line of duty from his father, Faison, and a heartrending last encounter with his pregnant wife, Nathan passed away at G.H. He was laid to rest in a special funeral episode that began with Nathan’s name being added to the list of fallen officers at the PCPD as a solemn Jordan intoned, “This is the end of watch call for Detective West.” The ensuing hour was packed with moments that could challenge even the most stoic of tear ducts (Georgie’s ghost appearing to comfort her widowed big sis, then to lead Nathan to the afterlife; the simple, wordless nod of condolence from Franco to his ex, Nina, that spoke volumes). Particularly stirring were Nina’s eulogy for her brother, which perfectly captured Nathan’s decency and loving spirit, and Maxie’s final good-bye to her beloved at the cemetery (“I guess I need to let you go now”), placing the sonogrom of their unborn child on his casket.
