thumbs up! DAYS OF OUR LIVES Lovin’ Leo
Leo’s return to Salem has given the Will/sonny story the shot in the arm it needed after Paul’s departure. Just when it looked like the star-crossed duo would fully reunite, in walked the presumed-dead Leo, full of swagger and bite, and ready to claim what he feels is rightfully his: Sonny and his vast family fortune. With zinging one-liners (“Is that any way to speak to the guy you murdered? Oh, I see you got a new rug.”) and a twinkle in his eye, Greg Rikaart is clearly relishing the chance to resurrect his smarmy alter ego. The second time around is already superior to the first, as if the time away gave the writers the chance to flesh out Leo’s more dastardly side and craft a bigger tale that makes use of Emmy-winning Rikaart’s immense talent. While “Wilson” will always be the end-game, it’s hard not to be intrigued by how the new Mr. Sonny Kiriakis will make everyone’s happily ever after seem like a living hell.
