BABY BLUES

After misinterpr­eting a close moment between Gabi and a suicidal JJ, Lani slept with Eli and became pregnant. JJ proposed to Lani, who accepted. The truth came out; JJ and Lani split, as did Gabi and Eli. Lani went into premature labor; the baby, David Abraham, died. Eventually, Lani and Eli agreed to give romance a shot. JJ quit the force and became an EMT. He befriended a suicidal nurse at the hospital.

SANITY PLEA

Ciara and Tripp began dating, to Claire’s chagrin. Ben Weston was declared sane and released from the mental institutio­n. He and Ciara grew close and began dating after she and Tripp split, which alarmed Hope.

WEDDED MISS

Ciara struggled with the knowledge that Sami and Rafe slept together. Claire got wind of it. Hope surprised Rafe with a private wedding in the Horton cabin on Smith Island. At their subsequent ceremony at Doug’s Place, Claire dropped the bomb about Rafe and Sami. Hope was heartbroke­n and left Rafe. In time, they reconciled.

BORDER PATROL

Brady romanced Eve to get control of Titan, then fell for her for real. Drug lord El Fideo developed a crush on Chloe and had her kidnapped to Mexico, where she was held captive along with Theresa. Xander revealed himself and helped Theresa escape. Paul and John saved Chloe. In Salem, Theresa tried to reconnect with Brady, to no avail. She secured custody of Tate and moved to California to be with Kimberly. When Brady learned that Eve had an indirect hand in Theresa getting custody, he broke up with her.

LEO RISING

Will divorced Sonny and began dating Paul. Sonny hooked up with Leo, a former prostitute paid by Vivian to romance Sonny. Leo got a job at Titan as Sonny’s assistant. They slept together; Leo sued Sonny for sexual harassment with help from shady lawyer Ted Laurent. When Kate became wise to their plot, Kate and Vivian fought; Vivian pulled a gun. A struggle ensued that left Vivian dead. Leo fought with Will and Sonny and hit his head. Thinking he was dead, they disposed of his body. Leo showed up months later, alive, and blackmaile­d Sonny — who had reunited with Will after his memory returned — into marrying him.

BURN UNIT

After she briefly dated Dr. Henry Shah, Jennifer and Eric got engaged, but when Jennifer learned that Brady blackmaile­d Nicole to leave town — and Eric — she ultimately confessed to Eric, which led to their breakup. A drugged Sami interrupte­d John and Marlena’s wedding ceremony. Kristen Dimera revealed herself to be alive. Marlena appeared to be shot by Sami — but it was really Xander,

who was gunning for Eric — and was rendered comatose. Determined to avoid pulling the plug, John got Hattie Adams sprung from prison to impersonat­e Marlena until she recovered. When Marlena woke up, she and John wed. Sami discovered EJ was alive and headed to a warehouse facility in Nashville. Eric tracked Nicole there, too. Thanks to Dr. Rolf’s experiment­s, the warehouse blew up. EJ was burned; Nicole was presumed dead. Sami took EJ —and his mom, Susan — to a facility in Europe. A grieving Eric fought Chloe for custody of Holly. INS AND OUTS

Theo woke up from his coma and left town to seek treatment in South Africa .... Anna and Roman briefly rekindled their past romance .... Lucas got out of rehab and reconnecte­d with Chloe, then moved to Europe to be closer to daughter

Allie .... Dr. Rex Brady returned to town, as did Mimi Lockhart, who had secretly given birth to his daughter, Emily. The truth came out, which ended his engagement to Maggie’s daughter, Sarah, a doctor who had also come home .... Paul was paralyzed and sought treatment in San Francisco. EYE SPY

Steve began having dizzy spells and blurry vision. John — who had received orders from the ISA to kill Steve — was drugging him in an attempt to spare his life. Billie Reed returned to help out John, who was forced to come clean. Steve ultimately lost his eyesight. Kayla was furious with John and desperate to help her husband, so she turned to Stefan for help. Steve got the transplant, and vision in one of his eyes was restored. However, the eye was used as part of an espionage ring and it appeared Steve was giving away state secrets. He was arrested. SPLITSVILL­E

Vivian returned to town with the secret son she had with Stefano —Stefan O. Dimera. Stefan took control of Dimera Enterprise­s — and took an immediate interest in Abigail — which infuriated Chad. After securing Gabi Chic for Dimera, Andre fired Gabi. When Andre wound up dead, Gabi was the prime suspect. Abigail developed Dissociati­ve Identity Disorder and as one of her alter egos, Gabby, slept with Stefan. Dr. Laura also emerged to protect Abigail, who was Andre’s true murderer. Gabi was fingered for the crime and sent to prison, where she was badly beaten and rendered infertile. Abigail’s psychologi­cal break was uncovered; she sought help. Gabi was released but hell-bent on revenge against Abby. To that end, she altered the paternity test to falsely name Stefan the dad, then drugged Abigail and made it appear as though her DID was back. To stay out of the mental hospital, Abby divorced Chad and married Stefan. With an assist from Chad, Abby gave birth to daughter Charlotte, then was institutio­nalized anyway. Stefan got her sprung. Julie discovered the truth about Gabi’s lies and they fought. Julie tumbled down the stairs. When she came to, she outed Gabi, but Chad and Abigail remained apart.
