BALL BEARINGS

Michael brings Kristina to the Metro Court’s New Year’s Eve charity ball. Chase escorts Willow. Michael senses that she seems uncomforta­ble around him, but doesn’t realize that it’s because she has figured out his connection to Wiley.

Sam attends with Jason, and they share a midnight kiss, as do Chase and Willow. Valerie is distant with Kristina.

BODY HEAT

Scott and Laura trade intel about Ava and “Kevin’s” involvemen­t. Ryan, meanwhile, murders TV producer Peyton, then meets up with

Ava. Curtis finds a pool of blood in the control room, where he was supposed to have a meeting with Peyton. Olivia lets out a horrified scream when she stumbles upon Peyton’s

body. Now convinced that they have a serial killer on their hands, Jordan, Curtis and the cops call in “Kevin” to consult on the case. “Kevin” suggests that the killer may be trying to grab attention away from the anniversar­y of Ryan’s murder spree. Jordan decides it is time to go public and summons Lulu, who is fresh from questionin­g Ava about “Kevin’s” sanity. Ava is shaken by Lulu’s comments about “Kevin’s” previous psychologi­cal break; Ryan assures her that he is fine and promises to shut Lulu down.

BY ANY OTHER NAME

Jason checks in on Sam, who reports that she

has decided to cease communicat­ion with “Linda Black”. Kristina informs Sam that she is moving out and tries to quell Sam and Jason’s fears about her new living arrangemen­t. Later, when Sam and Jason show up at the Dawn of Day gang’s dwelling, Kristina introduces them to “Shiloh”, the man who introduced himself to Jason as Hank. Jason calls him out on the name switch; Shiloh calmly explains that he changed his name after Drew saved his life and sent him on a new course. After Jason and Sam exit, Shiloh counsels Kristina not to worry about their skepticism, and instead to turn her focus inward. Sam tells Jason that she has a bad feeling about Shiloh; he says he’ll monitor the situation.

GAIL FAREWELL

Lucy asks Maxie to help her promote her new guidebook to Port Charles. Scott passes along the sad news to Laura, Monica and Lucy that Gail Baldwin has died. Alexis announces that there is a mysterious bequest in Gail’s will.

SECRETS ARE NO FUN

Nina and Valentin bump into Maxie, Obrecht and baby James. Obrecht privately warns Valentin that if anything happens to her, she has arranged for Margaux, Anna and Nina to receive letters about his Sasha deception. Nina and Maxie bring each other up to speed about Valentin and Peter, respective­ly, and Nina wonders what Valentin and Obrecht are discussing.

RING LEADER

Sonny works to keep Mike’s mind off of Yvonne, and offers him a job managing the boxing gym. Marcus intercepts Stella when she tries to deliver Mike’s gift to Yvonne. Marcus tells Stella that he plans to remove Yvonne from her care facility to ensure that Mike stays away from her. Stella relays the news to Sonny, who seeks out Marcus.
