Best known for her 200613 stint as 30 ROCK’S Cerie, Katrina Bowden (ex-britney, ONE LIFE TO LIVE) joins the cast of B&B as Flo. “I was presented with the opportunity to come in and meet the team and audition,” the actress relays. “I was excited because I always wanted to try a soap opera again. I was on one for a very short amount of time when I was 17, and I’ve done a lot of TV since then. It’s a world that’s fascinated me and I thought this could be fun. The character of Florence is really interesting. She’s so multilayered and she’s sassy and funny. She definitely has a sense of humor and isn’t afraid to say things how they are. My introduction to the show is with Wayne Brady’s character, Reese. Florence works in Las Vegas at a casino and they’re old friends, and she comes back into the picture when she helps him out with something.”

Bowden reports that so far, she’s loving life in daytime. “I worked all last week and it was great,” she smiles. “My first day was a little chaotic. I think I was given, like, 27 pages to do on day one and I was like, ‘Oh, my gosh!’ But everyone was so great and they were so patient with me. I think it went really well. I was nervous about it because I haven’t done 27 pages of dialogue in my life! It was definitely a bit of acting boot camp, but I’m adjusting. The whole cast is so nice that I immediately felt comfortable and that I was part of the family.”

Of her new castmates, Bowden enthuses that many of them welcomed her into the fold. “Darin [Brooks, Wyatt] has been great,” she

raves. “He’s the person I read with when I read in front of the producers, and we kind of felt like we knew each other already. He’s been super-helpful. Annika’s [Noelle, Hope] been great, as well. They’ve all been so, so sweet. They’re all very willing to run lines and answer the 10,000 questions I have about everything. They’ve been awesome.”

Longtime OLTL fans will remember Bowden from her short but memorable run as mean girl Britney. “I was part of the high school crowd and made life miserable for Starr,” she recalls. “The job was really a lot of fun but I was just a recurring character at the time, and that’s right when I booked

30 ROCK, so I didn’t stay because I booked something else and I wasn’t under contract. I remember being wowed by those few days I was there because it was like a whirlwind. I had never done anything like it. I didn’t really get much time on that soap. So now that I get to go back into that world as an adult and play a real character that I can really sink my teeth into instead of just popping in, it’s going to be great!”

“I always wanted to try a soap opera again.”
