DAYS: SARAH AND ERIC KISS
■ Rex returns to town, determined to reconcile with his ex-fiancée. “There’s a part of Sarah that really loves Rex and was very happy with their life together,” says Linsey Godfrey (Sarah). “Part of her feels obligated to listen to him. The other part of her wants to tell him to go to hell.”
Rex, meanwhile, asks Eric for a place to stay, and Eric feels obliged to let him move in. “Even though Rex and Eric are brothers, Eric and Sarah have gotten so close,” points out Godfrey. “She feels like Eric should be on her side, and Rex being there means that Sarah can’t be there. She doesn’t want to lose what she thinks is her best friend.”
A disgusted Sarah storms off, while an undeterred Rex asks Eric for his help in wooing back his ex. Sarah returns home to the Kiriakis mansion, where she comes face to face with Xander. “She’s not super-happy to meet him,” admits Godfrey. “She’s like, ‘I know exactly who you are and all the bad stuff you did. This whole charming [act] is not going to work with me.’ ”
Sarah feels compelled to let Eric know that Xander is alive and in Salem. Eric races over to confront Xander. He promptly threatens to kill Xander, so Sarah intervenes. “Sarah tends to be Eric’s shoulder angel at times,” notes Godfrey. “She tends to show up at the right moment and say the right thing to keep him on the right path. She makes him realize he’d lose everything [if he killed Xander] and gets him to calm down.”
Afterward, Rex walks in on a close moment between the pair and decides to use it to his advantage. He gets Eric to talk Sarah into the three of them going out. “Sarah begrudgingly agrees because Eric is begging her,” explains the actress. Once alone with Sarah, Rex admits he’ll do anything to win her forgiveness. Sarah consents to give him a chance, if he tells her the truth about the other woman he slept with. Rex admits it was Noelle — Sarah’s half sister. “Sarah is pissed,” declares Godfrey. “She’s furious, and she loses it. She tells Rex that they’re done. It’s, ‘You’re a terrible person. I’m out of here. Don’t contact me again.’ ”
Then, she heads straight for Eric, determined to soothe her pain and get some payback. “Sarah’s been drinking, and she’s a little toasty,” says Godfrey. Sarah announces she wants to sleep with Eric, just like Rex slept with her sister. “She wants Rex to feel the pain that she feels. And she and Eric do have chemistry. So she throws caution to the wind, grabs Eric, and kisses him.”
Eric responds, and it looks like the twosome is on their way to making love.
