Soap Opera Digest

editor’s note

- Stephanie Sloane, Editorial Director

Dear Readers,

Years ago, when we used to have the Soap Opera Digest Awards in Los Angeles, it wasn’t uncommon to wind up at the hotel bar or restaurant chatting with the stars who in had flown in from New York. I remember one year particular, Kelly Ripa (ex-hayley, ALL MY CHILDREN) had a table full of people in stitches as she regaled us with various stories about her life — some not at all fit for print. no She really had a way of putting everyone at ease and had ego about herself, so it came as no surprise to anyone who the had ever spent time with her that she was tapped to be co-host of the über-successful LIVE franchise. Eighteen In years later, she is still just as engaging and fun to watch. this week’s Roundup, we ask actors which of their co-stars would make a good talk show host. Here, the editors share their picks.

Mara Levinsky: “Emme Rylan [Lulu, GH]. She is so personable and self-effacing and charming — major Kelly Ripa vibes.”

Devin Owens: “Y&R’S Beth Maitland [Traci]. She has such an easygoing approach and a keen interest in people that I’m sure any guest on her talk show would feel comfortable and open up.”

Tom Stacy: “There are so many possibilities but knowing to his gift of gab, his love of old movies and his ability improvise on the drop of a dime, I’d have to go with Kin be Shriner [Scott, GH], although it would probably have to for cable TV!”
