Y&R: CHELSEA IS THREATENED
■ Chelsea is stunned when one of her late husband’s “business” associates, Simon Black, shows up at the Grand Phoenix and demands the millions that Calvin made from past dirty dealings. “Simon’s arrival in town catches Chelsea by surprise as she never expected someone would contact her about an unpaid debt,” says Head Writer Josh Griffith. “She thought that her past with Calvin was behind her and that asking Kevin to launder the money would give her a clean break.”
A menacing Simon is clearly serious about reclaiming the cash, but when Chelsea asks Kevin to return it, he informs her that the funds were being kept in a bank account that has been seized by the government. “Now Chelsea knows the situation with Simon has gone from bad to worse,” Griffith explains. “Chelsea’s plan of paying off Simon has gone up in smoke and she realizes that she’s in big trouble.”
Later, Abby tells Chelsea that the Grand Phoenix is making a good profit, and Chelsea then suddenly asks if Abby would like to buy out her share of the hotel. Abby is taken aback by the offer and assumes Chelsea is joking. “Chelsea needs to get her hands on a lot

of cash and thinks selling her share of the hotel might raise some of the cash she needs to pay off Simon,” Griffith notes. “However, she discovers that mentioning this raises too many questions from Abby.”
Simon approaches Chelsea and informs her that she has 48 hours to come up with his money. And Chelsea coming clean about this problem with Nick is out of the question. “Chelsea kept Calvin’s dirty money a secret from Nick and now fears this will cause Nick not to trust her,” points out Griffith. “She also wants to protect him since he’s running for city council, so she is forced to take matters into her own hands to shut down Simon’s threats.”
Backed into a corner, a desperate Chelsea makes a phone call. “Chelsea reaches out to Kevin and puts a dangerous plan in motion to stop Simon in his tracks,” previews Griffith. “Unfortunately, Simon is one step ahead of Chelsea and will stop at nothing to collect his debt.”
