Days Of Our Lives

Camila Banus (Gabi)

When do you feel most beautiful — when you’re dolled up or fresh-faced?

“Both, I feel very beautiful bare-faced and with makeup.”

Is there anything you wished you could change about your appearance when you were younger? “I desperately wanted to change the way my ears looked. I hated that they stuck out. When I was 15 years old, I had plastic surgery to have them pinned back. Now, I still get a little self-conscious about them here and there, but the whole experience has made me stronger and I love the way they stick out.”

What skin care products do you swear by? “Clinique face wash, Dr. Babor hydrating ampoules, Dermaesthetics Super Moisture Cream.”

What do you wish your younger self knew about makeup? “You don’t need to try every new product out there.”

What are your thoughts on cosmetic surgery? “If it floats your boat, why not?”

What cosmetics do you buy at a drugstore? “L’oréal Voluminous Mascara. Black Radiance Fine Line Liquid Eyeliner pen is beyond amazing; I have three in my makeup kit. Almay Shadow Squads, Almay eye makeup remover pads.”

What makeup do you carry in your purse? “Always Dr. Bronner’s Naked Organic Lip Balm. Can’t live without it.”

What do you splurge on when it comes to beauty? “Good products. I love Givenchy!”

If you could have a lifetime supply of any beauty product, what would it be?

“Alcone Company Make-off Makeup Remover Cloths. I love those things.”

What is your go-to lipstick shade?

“Nude, always nude. Favorite colors are M.A.C Whirl with Velvet Teddy on top and from the drugstore, wet n wild Bare It All.”

When do you feel most beautiful — when you’re dolled up or fresh-faced? “I feel pulled together when I have my earrings on. It doesn’t matter if I’m even dressed.”

Is there anything you wished you could change about your appearance when you were younger?

“Oh, yes, my nose. It was just a squat little nose, a family nose. Many in the family are cursed with it. I’ve learned to ignore it, having seen so many people have sad outcomes from nose surgery.”

What skin care products do you swear by? “I generally use L’oréal products, and I like Moisture Surge [72-Hour Auto-replenishing Hydrator] by Clinique. It really works. I put it on at night and I put it on in the morning, maybe 20 minutes before I do my makeup.”

What’s your best advice for combating the signs of aging?

“To me, if you want to make yourself look younger and better, just smile. Don’t give us the pout of the 13-year-old high fashion model. Be open about the way you look. Once you put on the makeup and have done the hair, forget it.”

What are your thoughts on cosmetic surgery? “I think it’s a great idea.”

If you could have a lifetime supply of any beauty product, what would it be? “I bought a cream in Venice, Italy. I can’t find it and I love this fragrance. It would probably be Moisture Surge by Clinique.”

What is your go-to lipstick shade? “Matte Naked by Milani.”

Is there a specific product you find yourself recommending to people? “I like Luminoso rouge by Milani. It’s a powder [blush] that’s being pulled off the shelves by CVS, but they still had some at Walgreens last night.”

What do you splurge on when it comes to beauty? “Bubble bath, but I buy the cheapest. It’s going down the drain.”
