thumbs up! GENERAL HOSPITAL Reunion Yes

When Franco became Franco again, his reunion with Elizabeth and Cameron was the happy ending fans of the Webber/ Baldwin clan deserved after watching the family suffer for months while Franco was running around town as a pre-2012 Drew. (We wish Scott could have been there, too, though we trust that heartwarmi­ng father/son scenes are in the offing, and the show gets points for mentioning him.) How differentl­y Roger Howarth played both roles (Franco and “Drew”) was never more obvious than when Franco “returned” — his mannerisms, speech patterns, even the way he looked at Liz signalled both to his loved ones and to the audience that Andre’s procedure had worked, much to the relief of all concerned.

The scenes set at G.H. were charming and tender, but once home, Franco and Liz had equally important exchanges about the emotional toll Franco’s de facto vanishing had taken on her, and about what “Drew” had done while occupying Franco’s body (i.e., bedding Kim). This couple — and their fans — more than earned their Christmas miracle.
