GENERAL HOSPITAL Nelle Gets New Leverage
Nelle lucks into some new intel that she hopes to use to her benefit.
At Charlie’s, Brook Lynn tells Julian that she will never tell Lucas that he caused the car accident that left him comatose. Explains Co-head Writer Chris Van Etten, “Her primary thinking is that she can’t see what good the truth will do for her good friend Lucas; it will only hurt him. And she doesn’t want blood on her hands. She knows that if this ever got back to Sonny, there might be blood in the streets! This is just the thing that Julian has been afraid of for so long.”
But his relief over Brook Lynn’s vow of silence may be short-lived, as Nelle is also at the pub, hoping to entreat Julian to testify on her behalf at Wiley’s custody hearing. “Julian is not prepared to give Nelle the time of day,” scoffs Co-head Writer Dan O’connor. “He doesn’t trust her.” Unfortunately for him, Nelle overhears Brook Lynn and Julian talking about the accident. “Nelle will use every means at her disposal to even the odds with Michael and Willow,” says Van Etten.
DAYS OF OUR LIVES Ben Proposes To Ciara
Ben takes Ciara out and re-creates their first date, Chinese takeout, with a romantic purpose in mind: proposing. At the end of the meal, Ciara opens her fortune cookie and finds a message: Will you marry me?
“Oddly enough, I don’t think Ciara is expecting it,” says her portrayer, Victoria Konefal. “Ben and Ciara have been together for long enough, but the idea of marriage kind of eluded her. She almost thinks [the proposal] is a joke, but when she realizes it’s reality, she’s over the moon.”
Ciara is extremely touched when the ring Ben offers her is an old washer he saved from the time he fixed her bike. “That gesture is above and beyond for Ciara,” notes the actress. “She prefers that ring over any diamond because of the sentimental value. Ben fixing her bike was one of the things that led to their love. It’s a reminder to Ciara that Ben, in fact, is the one.”
Ciara accepts Ben’s wedding proposal. “There are no tears, they’re just happy,” recounts Konefal. “They start jumping around and celebrating.” Yet, Ben’s a little worried about Ciara’s family accepting him. Later, Ciara tells her mother about her engagement, and “Hope is incredibly supportive, which is what Ciara expected,” says Konefal.
