Huge GH Preview!

-

■ This week, GH airs the final set of episodes it filmed before the coronavirus crisis shut down production. Expect major fireworks on-screen before the show resumes new original episodes!

Robert’s New Mission: Says Co-head Writer Dan O’connor, “Robert has started to realize that Holly’s supposed death might not be what it appears to be — and he finds a helpful ear in Laura, who, of course, is one of his oldest allies. He will ultimately find a partner who will go through this journey with him.” For her part, “Laura knows from experience that sometimes the rumors of somebody’s death might be greatly exaggerated, so she is willing to listen to Robert’s theories about what could actually be happening with Holly. However, Laura is somewhat concerned that Robert may be setting himself up for disappointment if the hopes he is pinning on the fact that Holly is alive are ultimately unfounded. So, while she agrees that there may be something to this theory of his, she doesn’t want to set him up for disappointment.”

Franco And Liz On The Rocks: An emotional chasm opened in the Webber/baldwin marriage when Franco made an insensitive remark about his wife not being a “real” artist. “Ava and Nikolas have independently been manipulating Liz and Franco from behind the scenes,” notes O’connor. “The seeds of that tension are finally bubbling to the surface. Franco and Elizabeth have always been supportive of each other and have always had each other’s backs, but as this tension continues to brew, it will ultimately come to a head, which will either make the couple stronger or it will make them collapse under their own weight.”

Heartbreak For Sonny: Sonny is forced to make a major medical decision about Mike’s care as his father’s condition continues its sharp decline. Sighs Co-head Writer Chris Van Etten, “Sonny is unable to make a snap decision about the direction that he should take, and his father should take in his current state. This is a decision that he is only going to arrive at over the course of a lot of wrangling, and he won’t do it alone. Luckily for Sonny, he has so many friends and family who will help him arrive at the best decision that he can for Mike — and, of course, the ‘best’ decision is really the least bad among many choices, none of which

are truly good,” in light of Mike’s grim prognosis.

Alexis’s Uncertain Future: Concerned about her mom after Alexis is stripped of her license to practice law, “Sam takes Alexis out to exercise,” begins Van Etten, “but really the point of it is to get her thinking about anything other than work and what has happened to her career. But it proves a failure because Alexis just can’t get that off her mind. She is at a crossroads, once again. Her character is so wrapped up in her occupation and she’s wondering, ‘If I’m not a lawyer, what am I? Who am I?’ Sam is there to encourage her mother and to remind her that she’s more than a degree and an accreditation and to suggest that there is a lot more to her — still a lot of life left to live. Alexis is appreciative of Sam’s encouragement, but whether that leaves Alexis in a place that helps her move forward in a particular direction remains to be seen.”

Custody Trial Drama: The hotly contested battle for Wiley goes into overdrive when Michael and his new wife, Willow, arrive in court to square off with Nelle. “Michael and Nelle have raised the stakes of his trial through a series of escalating actions,” O’connor says, “and Carly has come to realize that the testimony given by their friends and family are ultimately going to be what makes or breaks this custody hearing for this family. Carly ultimately feels responsible for bringing Nelle to Port Charles in the first place; she is the one that placed that ad in Crimson to begin with. Likewise, Nina ultimately feels some responsibility for Nelle’s horrific actions and her reign of terror in Port Charles. Nina had tried to make things right by reassuring Carly that she would monitor Nelle’s actions and weaponize them against her during the trial. But now it’s the moment of truth.”

Specifically, Nina has to decide whether or not to take the stand as a character witness for Nelle — and if she does, whether to throw the case in Michael’s favor or assist Nelle in her quest. “Nina has found the potential for growth in Nelle, and she has a choice to make: Does she protect Wiley from the danger of Nelle being in his life, or does she believe in the possible rehabilitation in Nelle? And, of course, for the audience, the stakes are even higher than Nina realizes, as we know that Nelle is the daughter that was stolen from her all those years ago.”

Baby On The Way! One character will receive lifechanging news this week. Teases O’connor, “In a shocking twist, one of our beloved characters finds out that she is expecting a child — and this pregnancy could be a sign that a long-brewing conflict is about to reach its climax, one that will have lasting ramifications for all of Port Charles.”
