Explain your method. “I have a wonderful picture of me and Caputo, the famous barber to the stars, but due to my own skills and my own barber’s license that I got on the back of a matchbook cover, it fell apart and when all else fails, I go back to what my grandmother used to do in the ’60s — sit down, get that salad bowl out and cut around, and you can’t go wrong. That’s why it’s called the bowl cut. There are different size bowls. You just have to find the one that accommodates your head — and make sure you do. Otherwise, things could go horribly wrong.” What prompted this? “Because I had goofed up the original cut, and then I realized if you don’t know what you’re doing, you just put on that bowl and cut around it.” It is even possible to cut your own hair?
