DAYS: Sarah Learns The Truth About Xander

-

■ Sarah heads to Victor’s hospital room and unleashes her wrath at the man who orchestrated the baby switch that upended her life. “It’s a very big moment for Sarah, a closure thing where she gets to say her piece to one of the people who wronged her,” says Linsey Godfrey, admitting she was “very nervous to yell at John Aniston [Victor]. They’ve thrown me into that from day one, but it’s always nerve-wracking.”

Sarah calls her stepfather out, telling him “what a bad human she thinks he is and that her mom deserves so much better than him,” Godfrey adds. “It’s that moment where Sarah, who’s had all these awful things happen to her, is getting the opportunity to give him his comeuppance.”

Marlena interrupts Sarah’s rage session, pulling her away and counseling her to try to let go of her anger before it destroys her. She then suggests Sarah might still be in love with Xander. “It doesn’t go over well,” previews Godfrey. “At the same time, when you’re truly in love with somebody and you find out that they’ve done something so horrible, but they’ve done it just to protect you, it makes Sarah think about it. It’s something that she actually bristles at, because she thinks, ‘How could I possibly love somebody who’s done something so awful, so truly terrible? And what does it say about me if I still love him?’ ”

Sarah then encounters Xander at the mansion, where he begs her for another chance. “Sarah’s mad, and Xander asking for a second chance is so tactless,” conthat tends Godfrey. “Yet, it’s so brilliantly Xander, because it’s so tone-deaf and so not the right time. He hasn’t given her time to heal. What Sarah really needs is to know that somebody is there, and then eventually, when she’s ready, she’ll come to you. But Xander is not that way. He’s just push, push, push.”

Brady interrupts the pair’s conversation and announces Xander still hasn’t told Sarah everything he did; namely, helping Kristen almost steal Sarah’s embryo when she was anesthetized. Before Sarah can digest any of it, Xander defends himself, reminding her that she was going to have an abortion. “There are so many feelings and emotions that go into making the choice to terminate a pregnancy,” points out Godfrey. “Then to have somebody say so flippantly, ‘Whatever. You were just going to throw it away.’ ”

A furious Sarah slaps Xander. “It’s such an insensitive thing to say,” Godfrey concludes. “And the idea of Xander teaming up with Kristen has so many layers to it, now. It’s a whole other salting of a new wound. Sarah is fuming at Xander. She really thought he had changed, and this is totally a betrayal of character to her.”

“She really thought he had changed.”
