SHADY DEALINGS
Marlena gets a call from Orpheus; she and Steve head out to meet him. Justin insists he should come, too, to confront the man who killed his wife.
John tries to get little
David to help him escape, but Orpheus catches him and knocks John out.
Zoey helps Rafe try to track down David. Hope comes by. Orpheus calls Zoey to enlist her help with David. She tells Rafe and Hope that she’s going to the prison to see her brother. Rafe soon realizes she was lying.
CONTROL ISSUES
Kayla helps persuade Justin to let Steve handle Orpheus. Steve and Marlena meet up with Orpheus and
John. After transferring the money, Orpheus hands over John and is about to slip away, but Steve apprehends him. John and Marlena are reunited and they help Steve take Orpheus down to the police station.
Later, Justin convinces Steve to let him talk to Orpheus one-on-one, and once he’s alone with Orpheus, Justin pulls a gun on him, determined to make him pay for killing Adrienne.
Meanwhile, Marlena
lovingly tends to John’s head wound at home. John’s a little unsettled, relaying how Orpheus made it sound like he had another trick up his sleeve.
SAFE SPACE
Hope and Rafe track down Zoey, who’s watching David. Zoey grabs Hope and holds a gun on her. She explains she has to do what her father says or she’ll never see her own son again — Orpheus kidnapped him, as well. Rafe tries to convince Zoey they need to work together, and Hope makes a play for the gun. The two struggle ... and the gun goes off. It hits Rafe on his badge and he is unharmed. Zoey then gets a call that her son is safe; Hope lets her run away. Rafe is happily reunited with David.
MARRY ME
At Julie’s Place, Eric confides to Abe he’s going to propose to Nicole tonight. Kate walks in on this and offers her two cents about Nicole. Nicole enters. When

“He’s as secure as he can feel with Kayla. He needs this marriage proposal to give him some confidence that their relationship is more permanent.
I don’t think Justin ever feels really secure with Steve around.”
Nicole learns Kate is working with Abe, she tries to warn Abe he’s making a mistake. Later, Eric proposes to Nicole over dinner and she happily accepts. Abe and Kate offer their congratulations.
Marlena and John are visited by Nicole and Eric, who announce their engagement. Hope arrives and reveals what Orpheus said cryptically about playing his favorite game for the last time. They search the place
... and Hope finds a bomb. She takes it out just before it explodes. Marlena thanks Hope for saving them all, but Hope feels it’s the least she could do after the pain she caused them as Gina.
MAKING A POINT
Steve and Kayla discover that a gun is missing from the evidence bag. Steve goes to Justin, and urges him to turn the gun over to him. Steve points the gun at Orpheus, then knocks him out. Kayla privately indicates her gratitude to Steve.
JOIN THE CLUB
Eli and Lani show up to get Ben’s eyewitness account of Gabi’s attack on Jake. Ciara invites Eli and Lani to their wedding, which prompts Eli to propose to Lani, who happily accepts. Later, they look to set a date, and Lani realizes that she may be pregnant.
DRUG PUSHER
Jack confronts Gabi about poisoning Abigail; she insists she’s innocent. Gabi later tells Rafe that Rolf set her up. Meanwhile, Ben is stunned to find out that the syringe that Gabi tried to inject Jake with was dangerous. Gabi is stunned when Jake shows up at the police station to see her.
OFFICIAL OFFICIANT
Ciara is surprised when Julie balks at being the officiant, pointing to her track record of officiating at weddings that crashed and burned. Ciara persists, and Julie agrees to perform the ceremony.
KEY DEVELOPMENTS
Kate tells Hope and Steve that Abe wants to give them the key to the city for their heroics in stopping Orpheus. Hope and Steve still feel like they don’t deserve to be lauded as heroes, but also come to the decision that they don’t need to feel guilty for crimes when Stefano is the true villain. Hope reminds Steve he only pushed Kayla away because he felt Justin was better for her, adding that maybe it isn’t too late to win her back. Steve agrees and shows up to talk to Kayla. Meanwhile, Justin visits Adrienne’s grave to ask her permission to marry Kayla. He heads to the hospital, finds Kayla and gets down on one knee.
