LADY IN RED
John and Shawn are dismayed to learn that
Belle made a deal with Jan that will result in her going free. John, still afraid he may have killed Charlie, persuades Marlena to hypnotize him. He remembers getting out of the car, going to Charlie’s apartment and seeing a woman in a red coat shoot Charlie. He is alarmed to realize it’s likely Belle, though he didn’t see her face.
Melinda presses Rafe to make an arrest. He tells her the button is the only piece of potential physical evidence he has so far.
Jan is released and heads to John and Marlena’s.
She sneaks in and snoops around. She finds the tape recording of John’s session, then recalls what really happened: She was the one wearing the red coat and who pulled the trigger.
Rafe confronts Belle with the button missing from her red coat. Belle swears she’s never been to Charlie’s apartment. Melinda insists Rafe and Shawn arrest Belle, so Rafe does.
NEW BEGINNINGS
Allie and Tripp share a fraught moment. She talks to Claire about it after. Tripp goes home to Steve and Kayla, and talks to them about Allie. When Kayla surprises Tripp with a new, white medstudent coat, Tripp informs Steve that he legally changed
his name to Tripp Johnson. Steve and Kayla are touched.
OH, BABY
Abigail tells Chad that Gwen is getting a blood test to verify her pregnancy. She admits she suggested Gwen terminate the pregnancy. When Chad is taken aback, Abigail explains that the baby will be a constant reminder of Chad’s infidelity. Chad says that decision is up to Gwen.
Gwen gets a blood test from Kayla, which confirms her pregnancy. Gwen is affected when she sees the baby on the ultrasound. After, she visits Chad and informs him that she intends to keep the baby. Chad admits that he cannot turn his back on their child. Later, Abigail blasts Gwen for destroying her life.
Jack goes to Steve for
advice about how to deal with this latest challenge between his two daughters. Steve reminds Jack that when they first realized they were brothers, they hated each other. Jack hopes Gwen and Abigail could become close someday.
FINANCIAL CONCERN
Chanel can’t believe Xander is broke. Frustrated, Chanel suggests they get a quickie divorce. Not so fast, Xander replies.
Abe comes to Paulina with the papers finalizing her Horton Town Square project. Paulina tells him about Chanel and Xander. Abe is forced to share Xander’s checkered past with a horrified Paulina.
Eli fills Lani in about Chanel and Xander. After Eli leaves, Paulina shows up to ask Lani for her help with Chanel.
LEAVING SO SOON?
Theo confronts Ciara about the kiss they shared. Ciara asserts that it was no big deal, noting that she deserves a nice guy like Theo. Later, Ciara tells Ben that she is leaving Salem to accompany Theo back to South Africa. Theo shares the news with Claire, who believes he’s making a mistake. At the hospital, Ben states that no matter where she goes, Ciara is his wife, and nothing can change that.
LET’S MAKE A DEAL
Xander says he will only give Chanel a divorce if Paulina pays him off. He offers to cut Chanel in on the deal. Before Chanel can decide, Lani arrives and pleads with her cousin to get her life back on track. Lani offers to talk to Paulina about Xander’s request. Later, Lani tells Paulina that Xander wants $10 million — and Chanel is all too eager to split that money with her hubby.
DISAPPEARING ACT
Jake admits to Kate that he was jealous when he learned that Gabi and Philip were on a date. He suggests they take a trip since they could use a break. Kate agrees.
Kristen, still disguised as Susan, is mortified when Brady tells her he’s on his way to Statesville to visit. Kristen makes up an excuse and heads to Statesville herself, where Vivian demands that she get to work on breaking up Jake and Kate. When Kristen reveals how she made someone disappear who threatened to expose her, Vivian suggests she do the same with Kate.
