GH: BRITT AND JASON ON THE RUN
■ Forced to flee their original safe house location, Britt and Jason take shelter in a barn on a Cassadine property — and though she’s no stranger to life as a fugitive, Britt makes it clear to her travel buddy that she’s far from pleased with their dicey situation.
Explains Kelly Thiebaud (Britt), “Britt has so much going on. She feels guilty about Jason getting shot. She’s concerned about being on the run [while experiencing hand tremors] because no one knows and what if Jason starts noticing what’s going on with her? She’s concerned about leaving Maxie and what’s going to happen with the baby. So much to worry about!”
As a result, she notes, “The vibe between them is a little tense at times.” So much so that Britt ends up storming out, determined to let Jason go it alone. “I think everything leading up to that moment just got to her and she needed a break,” the actress offers. “They’ve been butting heads and Britt doesn’t necessarily feel like Jason takes her seriously.” In the end, she can’t bring herself to abandon Jason and returns. Sums up Thiebaud, “She cares for him, she’s concerned about him and I think she feels she owes him.”
When Britt comes back, she changes Jason’s bandages, and while she’s busy with this task, he expresses his gratitude to her for helping him survive being shot and for sticking with him. “I think even though the words and sentiments are sweet and not typical for Jason, she still feels like it’s all her fault,” Thiebaud sighs. “He wouldn’t have gotten shot if he hadn’t gone back for her!”
The nice moment proves fleeting, as the pair is soon back to bickering, this time about whether to stay where they are (Britt’s preference) or keep moving (for which Jason advocates). Finally, Jason convinces Britt that it’s not safe for them to stay somewhere connected to the Cassadines, since she was once engaged to Nikolas and it might give the cops a lead on their whereabouts. According to Thiebaud, Britt capitulates because “I think she just realized he wasn’t going to budge. And he is the more experienced one in these types of situations. It’s the whole ‘pick your battles’ thing.”
Before they are able to make their move, however, Jason notices that Britt’s hand is shaking and he encourages her to share with him what she is clearly trying to hide. Says Thiebaud, “Jason reminds her that they are on the run, they only have each other to lean on, so he needs to know what’s going on in case something happens.” He makes a persuasive argument, and Britt decides it’s time to tell him the truth about her condition ....
