GH: BRANDO AND SASHA TRY TO OUTWIT CYRUS
■ After their one-night stand resulted in a surprise pregnancy, Sasha and Brando try to navigate the sudden turn in their relationship — and keep it all a secret from a vengeful Cyrus.
Brando approaches Sasha at the hospital, concerned that her presence there could indicate a problem. She pulls him into the stairwell for a private conversation and explains that she’s at G.H. to transfer her records to Mercy, hoping to keep them — and, more to the point, the identity of her baby daddy — from Cyrus’s prying eyes. “It’s to protect Brando,” explains Sasha’s portrayer, Sofia Mattsson. “Cyrus has always been interested in Sasha, and the fear is that he could get very jealous and dangerous if he finds out that Brando was able to get with Sasha instead of him. And Sasha is, from experience, aware of just how dangerous Cyrus could be, so she wants to keep him from finding out in order to protect Brando.”
Sasha briefs Brando on her efforts to convince Cyrus that she doesn’t know who the father is because she slept with a stranger. He is impressed with her quick thinking and tells her as much. “Sasha is so used to being on her own, and standing up for herself is something she’s had to do her whole life,” Mattsson notes. “She’s not used to having people on her team, so I think Brando’s admiration and protectiveness of Sasha takes her off-guard and is a bit new for her to take in. But it’s of course very appreciated and sweet.”
Before they part ways, Brando assures Sasha that they will find a way to work around Cyrus. Points out Mattsson, “I think because Sasha has always had to protect and take care of herself, she has a hard time feeling reassured and trusting that someone else will take care of a problem for her. I think it’s reassuring to know that Brando is on her side, but she knows she’ll have to do just as much work to protect Brando and their baby as he will.” Still, touched by Brando’s sincerity, Sasha invites him to join her for her next ob/gyn appointment. “It’s very cute!” the actress says. “I love how understanding and sweet Brando is about all this. The fact that he is so excited and is standing by her and wants to come to the doctor’s appointments is adorable!”
After he goes, Sasha has a tense run-in with Peter, and is unnerved by how he seems to be keeping tabs on her. “For now, she can’t read into it too much,” Mattsson offers, “but she knows to keep an eye out and be on guard. At this point, she also knows all about Peter and Maxie’s blowup and does not like or trust Peter at all.”
Her instincts are spot-on — because unbeknownst to Sasha, Peter tattles to Cyrus about her covert meeting with Brando. Cyrus deduces that Brando must have gotten Sasha pregnant and prepares to take drastic action ....
