Y&R: WHAT’S NEXT FOR ASHLAND

-

■ According to Co-executive Producer/head Writer Josh

Griffith, replacing Richard

Burgi with Robert Newman in the role of Ashland Locke means the next story arc is kicking into gear, as Victor keeps a close eye on his new son-in-law. “Suspicions about Ashland’s health and his intentions toward

Victoria forced Victor to investigate his son-in-law,” says Griffith. “Victor will be presented with more information that questions if the reports about Ashland’s health could be greatly exaggerated.”

For now, Victor is keeping his investigation on the down low as he continues to scrutinize Ashland’s every move. “Michael’s investigation in Peru will raise serious questions for Victor,” explains the scribe. “It’s not a matter of if Victor will confront Ashland but when and why. Victor is carefully plotting his next move as he also wants to take Victoria’s feelings into consideration.”

The last time her family looked into

Ashland’s past, Victoria became so angry that it only strengthened her resolve to stand by her man. But Ashland pushing for more authority at the company and taking too many liberties with business decisions may make Victoria think twice. “Victoria entered into the Newman-locke merger with the understanding that she would be the sole CEO,” points out Griffith. “Ashland’s interest in being named CO-CEO will raise some serious red flags for Victoria. However, being the CEO of Newman Enterprises, as it stands, has been a long-term goal for Victoria and she will not let anyone stand in her way.”

In the meantime, Griffith is thrilled that GUIDING LIGHT alum Newman (ex-josh) is playing Ashland and praises, “We are so fortunate that an actor of Robert’s caliber was ready, willing and able to join us at THE YOUNG AND THE RESTLESS as we continue to explore the character of Ashland Locke.”
