Y&R: ADAM AND SALLY MAKE LOVE

-

■ Although she’s a fashion designer by trade, Sally is thrilled to be appointed the new COO of Newman Media, thanks to Adam. “She’s ready for a new challenge,” declares Courtney Hope (Sally). “Fashion does mean everything to Sally, but in her mind, she’s thinking that maybe as COO there’s a way to bring the fashion division back. Having more leverage in the company is a really big deal to her because there’s so much that could potentially spark from this. For now, Sally just wants to be successful so that she can grow and have more credibility under her belt after all of the battles she’s been through.”

Since accepting her new post, Sally has noticed that Adam is a little more flirtatious. “It seems that ever since Sally said, ‘I’ve put myself out there enough, so now I’m just going to focus on my work,’ there’s been this shift in Adam,” Hope notes. “Now that she’s being totally professional, he wants her.”

When the two executives find that a bottle of champagne has been delivered to Adam’s office, they pop it open and share a toast. While celebrating, they learn that each thought the other had arranged for the bubbly when it really came from an advertiser. “It’s kind of a funny moment when they find out that neither one of them did it, which makes them both realher ize what they were really hoping for,” observes the actress. “The tension has been building up between them for a really long time, but they kept acting like it didn’t exist. Of course, that made Sally even more determined to be with Adam but he kept shooting down.”

It looks like that will happen again when Adam insists they compartmentalize their feelings, but when he tries to leave, he hesitates at the door. “He’s still her boss and I really like that push and pull between them,” Hope points out. “He shuts the door and she reaches behind him and locks it, so she’s making a very bold move.”

The duo has passionate sex on his desk. “There’s a level of trust that happens between two people after they’ve been intimate like that,” acknowledges Hope. “Adam isn’t one to share his emotions, so it’ll be interesting to see what transpires for them and what their new dynamic will be at work. Things will definitely change.”

“The tension has been building up between them for a really long time.”
