OVER DUO: Julie Williams and Victor Kiriakis
ROMANCE REPORT: She may be soul mates with Doug, but Julie once embarked on a romance with Victor — although her motives were anything but loving. Upon returning to Salem in early 1990, Julie plotted to destroy Victor to pay him back for interfering with some of her business holdings. She pretended to be attracted to the suave mobster and he fell for it, inviting Julie to be his guest that summer on the infamous Cruise of Deception. During the excursion, Julie saw a different side of Victor, who opened up about his feelings for his late lover, Loretta. Victor’s nemesis and Loretta’s ex-husband, Ernesto Toscano, had secretly arranged the cruise and planned to kill Victor aboard. He orchestrated an explosion on the ship, which left Victor and Julie clinging to a life raft and washing up on a deserted island. The circumstances drew them closer, and they shared a kiss. Julie remained by Victor’s side when he suffered a stroke that November. However, when Dr. Carly Manning was brought in to oversee his recovery, Victor ended up falling for her. By April 1991, Victor proposed to Carly and she accepted, ending his brief relationship with Julie.
