However, she got a second chance with Chad after his wife, Abigail, was presumed dead in 2016. The two single parents bonded and began dating. By the time Abigail turned up alive that November, Chad was torn between two women. His feelings for the pair were tested when Deimos kidnapped and poisoned Gabi and Abigail in 2017, and gave Chad the antidote to save one of them. Chad opted to give half the drug to each woman, saving both their lives. A grateful Gabi decided to step aside and support Chad and Abigail’s plans to remarry, but Abigail broke things off with Chad. Gabi and Chad resumed dating, while Gabi’s brother, Dario, inserted himself into the mix, having developed feelings for Abigail. Dario convinced Abigail to marry him, lying that he was facing deportation. While Gabi supported the union, Chad was skeptical. When the truth about Dario’s scheming was exposed, Gabi realized Chad still loved Abigail and broke up with him.
