Y&R: DANIEL AND SUMMER VOW REVENGE

-

■ In the aftermath of Phyllis’s death, a shattered Summer shows up at the Grand Phoenix, where she finds her brother, Daniel, trying to deal with the loss, as well. “They are both pretty devastated,” sets up Michael Graziadei (Daniel). “They’re really struggling to cope. Nothing is making sense to them.”

Compounding their grief is the fact that the siblings were estranged from Phyllis at the time of her death. “They haven’t been very nice to their mom recently, so stack that on top of losing her and it becomes, ‘How terrible are we?’ ” Graziadei explains. “I think that’s the traditional tale of you always think you have more time with someone, when you should really act like every day is your last and to treat people the way you want to be treated. Of course, they learned this lesson too late.”

Daniel voices his fury over Jeremy claiming to have married Phyllis just a few days before she died. “There’s this unfathomable anger of, ‘We didn’t know anything about this guy,’ ” the actor points out. “The first time Daniel laid eyes on Jeremy, his mom told him that Jeremy is dangerous and a criminal and not to go near him, and now this guy is coming out of left field and saying, ‘And look, we got marhowever,

ried.’ It makes absolutely no sense to Daniel and it’s not an easy pill for him to swallow. He wants to get to the bottom of this but he has to wait for the GCPD to confirm the validity of the marriage license Jeremy gave them.”

Summer rages that Diane is responsible for the tragedy. “Daniel is caught off-guard when Summer comes at him with ‘Diane is to blame,’ and that’s it,” says Graziadei. “Daniel thinks Stark is the most likely suspect in all of this, so that’s where Daniel’s focus will be. The first thing he wants to look into is if his mom and Jeremy really did get married. If it is real, then it opens up some possibilities of why their mom died. For instance, did Jeremy marry Phyllis for her money? But Daniel and Summer are on the same page about one thing — someone will pay.”
