DAYS: KRISTEN AND MEGAN MEET IN PRISON
■ Kristen meets the new inmate at Statesville: her sister, Megan. The two siblings immediately have a chat. “I don’t know if you would call it sisterly bonding,” delivers Stacy Haiduk (Kristen) with a laugh. “It’s more who can up the other in the conversation. They play off each other; it’s the Dimera way. I don’t think they trust each other, but because they’re family, they’re going to work together the best they can.”
When the conversation turns to the missing Kayla, Kristen infers that Thomas is not the person who kidnapped her. “Kristen’s trying to figure out what the heck is going on,” says Haiduk. “Megan has secrets that Kristen is not in on at this time. Kristen’s trying to find out all the goods that Megan has, which is a lot.”
Kristen then comes to realize that Bo might be alive. Although Megan refuses to confirm or deny it, Kristen knows the information could be vital. “It’s a light bulb moment,” notes Haiduk. “Kristen, in her savvy little mind, goes, ‘Oh, this is something that I can use with Brady, that I can get some leverage over him,’ because Brady thinks something else is going on. Kristen feels like this might give her a chance to see her daughter again because Brady has refused to bring her there.”
Kristen then summons Brady to Statesville, telling him, “‘I’m going to give you some amazing news that you’re going to be excited about,’ ” recounts Haiduk. When Brady arrives, Kristen reveals she wants a visit with Rachel in exchange for the info. “Kristen’s dangling the carrot so she can get what she wants,” adds the actress. “I don’t think Brady believes her, but he is curious.” Brady agrees to think about Kristen’s proposition. “So she’s hopeful. It’s probably the most hopeful she’s been since the whole time she’s been in prison. There’s a one percent chance he’ll come down and bring Rachel with him.”
After the visit, Megan points out that it’s to both their advantage if Kristen keeps quiet so they can work together and find a way to escape. “That’s what Kristen wants, is to get out of prison fully,” points out Haiduk. “Kristen is grappling with what to do. If she keeps quiet, Kristen’s in the middle between people she doesn’t trust, Megan and Brady. Who is she going to choose?”
“Kristen’s trying to find out all the goods that Megan has, which is a lot.”
