GH’S HOLLY RETURNS TO PORT CHARLES

-

■ Holly makes her way back to Port Charles with Felicia, Tracy and Ethan — and her determination to take down Victor is redoubled after Felicia briefs her on what he has been up to in her absence.

Notes Emma Samms (Holly), “It’s very clear that Victor is so far from being a good guy. He’s very messed up! He’s got huge issues and he’s got a lot of power and money to facilitate these weird ideas of his, all of which make him very, very dangerous.”

Holly’s first move upon arrival is to pay a visit to her ex, Robert — which interrupts an intimate moment he is on the verge of sharing with Diane. Samms reports, “She kind of dismisses that, Robert’s involvement [with Diane] or whatever it is. She doesn’t know the details of it, but she sort of just treats it as not terribly relevant, bearing in mind how affectionate Robert was toward her when she was there before. But, of course, life is complicated. Holly and Robert’s relationship is very complicated. And the Diane element is just another complication that we’ve been playing around with, really, with enormous pleasure because that character is fantastic and [Carolyn Hennesy, her portrayer] is absolutely fantastic and she’s a brilliant actress. Brilliant! If there is going to be a love triangle, oh, my goodness, I cannot think of a better person to do it with!”

The mood between the two women is far from cordial. “It’s fantastic to banter and bounce off of her,” Samms enthuses. “I

wouldn’t say ‘fight back’ but it’s a back-and-forth, a quick back-and-forth conversation that they have — with poor Robert in the middle, looking very awkward! So, I’m loving that twist, but I don’t think it bothers Holly [that Robert seems to have connected with Diane]. Possibly, it should! But I think Holly is just filled with these lovely memories from when she was there before, so she sort of dismisses it, whether she should or should not.”

Diane leaves in a huff, offended when she realizes that Robert kept her in the dark about what really happened to Holly in the wake of the catastrophic fire at the cabin last November. Holly quickly shares with Robert that she gleaned some intel from Ethan about the nature of Victor’s master plan. “It has her very worried,” Samms says. “She’s so worried that she can’t just walk away. Not that she would want to walk away from Robert, but she can’t walk away from Victor even though he no longer poses any threat to her. And I think she’s very pleased that her son has been able to give her what may be the missing link to the story, which makes them suddenly able to figure out what’s really going on.”
