■ How would you describe Liam’s growing concern about Hope and Thomas’s continued closeness? “At this point, Liam still doesn’t know that Hope is thinking about Thomas, but he is growing more and more impatient with the situation. I think he’s more concerned that Hope can be a little naive when it comes to Thomas. I mean, how many chances can this guy get? So yes, that aspect is bothersome, but Liam is trying his best to push that out of his mind — and he is failing miserably [laughs].” Liam lost it in the scene where Liam found Hope and Thomas in a clinch at Forrester. How was that to play? “I will give Liam more credit than usual because the way that we shot that scene, it looked like they were making out on the couch. When Liam walked in and saw what he saw, of course Hope was like, ‘No, I fell!’ and she really gave it to him for believing that she’d succumbed to Thomas. Now if I, Scott, was in those shoes, I’d be a bit more incredulous, but I think it was necessary for Liam to believe [the fall] was true, and in this case, we, the audience, know it was true. Yes, it was a fall. It was an accident, but he is still not happy about it, that’s for sure.” Why has Liam turned to Steffy to vent? “The motivation here is that he’s not just talking to Steffy because he wants to vent to somebody or he is seeking her wisdom. He knows that Steffy cares about him and his feelings. Liam is struggling with the whole thing, and he just wants to hear what’s going on in Steffy’s head — and she makes a good case.”

Considering his history with Steffy, is this Hope/thomas situation bringing him closer to his ex, despite her happy marriage to Finn? “No. It’s not that he necessarily loves Steffy in that way. She is still an anchor in his life, but it is not a romantic or sexual attraction in this moment. Liam could not go there since he is so wrapped up in his jealousy of Hope and Thomas. But, every time he sees Steffy, he is reminded of the entirety of their history and all the s**t they’ve been through and how much, at one point, they did love one another. That said, Steffy does have a calming effect on him, which he really needs right now. He sees her as a friend, and they are still very close.”
