■ Kristian Alfonso and Brandon Beemer were fantastic in the wrenching aftermath of Bo’s shooting.

Hope’s miracle — Bo calling her Fancy Face, signaling that he had regained control of his faculties — quickly devolved into a nightmare when

Shawn, worried for his mother’s safety, pumped a bullet into his father. Horrified, Hope sank down to minister to Bo, while Shawn froze in shock, remorse washing over his face, rambling nervously and shaking his head as he began to grapple with what he’d done. Hope was anguished, but not accusatory, as worried for Shawn as she was for her beloved, remaining empathetic even as she stared down the possibility that she might lose Bo all over again — at her own son’s hands.

The color drained from Beemer’s face as Shawn’s guilt and self-recrimination kicked in, his struggle to digest the gravity of his actions overwhelming him. At the hospital, where doctors worked frantically to revive his father, an inconsolable Shawn explained to Steve what had happened, how afraid he had been for Hope’s life. Shawn jumped to his feet, insisting he was to blame, his voice rising in anger, pacing and waving his arms as a fresh wave of agony and frustration crashed down on him. Then, in a quiet, raw moment, he fought back tears, noting that if Bo died, it was on him.

Meanwhile, Hope sat vigil at Bo’s bedside. He suddenly flatlined and a doctor announced he was gone. Hope crumbled, wailing as she willed Bo to return to her, Alfonso infusing Hope with heartbreak and desperation. Hope fainted, then came to and learned that Bo’s heart was beating again. Alfonso’s eyes widened with relief as a radiant joy spread across her face. Hope ran to the waiting room to update Shawn, but he was too dejected and ashamed to look her in the eye.

Playing every beat with passion,alfonso and Beemer brought grit, heartache and humanity to this tragic arc — and did “Bope” fans very proud.
