Mildred Thudium
Mildred Dorothy Thudium (nee Tweed) of Fort Washington Estates, Fort Washington, Pa., and a former longtime resident of Oreland, joined her Heavenly Father on Aug. 6, 2012, at age 93.
She is survived by her children, Kathleen A. Riker, Douglas T. (Linda) and Judith M. Thudium. She will also be missed by her three grandchildren, Brian, Karen and Emily. She was preceded in death by her husband, William C., and sons Ronald W. and Philip A. Thudium.
Mildred was born and raised in the farmlands of North Dakota. She graduated from Lutheran Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing in Minneapolis, Minn., in 1943. She enlisted in the Army Nurse Corps and served overseas during World War II. While serving in France, she met William, a soldier working in the hospital pharmacy. After the war, they married, and she moved to his hometown of Philadelphia. She later resumed her nursing career in the maternity department of Chestnut Hill Hospital.
Mildred enjoyed baking, cooking, quilting and traveling. She was a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend. Above all, Mildred loved the Lord. She was a member of Oreland Evangelical Presbyterian Church and participated in the choir and various ministries for as long as she was physically able. She remained a faithful servant to the Lord until He called her home.

A celebration of the life of Jonathan Elam Elwell, 44, will be held 2 to 5 p.m. Aug. 26, 2012, at the Tylersport Fire Hall, Rte. 563 Ridge Road, Tylersport, Pa.
He was recovered in Iowa June 19, 2012, after going missing in April while on vacation.
