Donations for pool make a splash
It’s the end of summer and time to close the Souderton Community Pool for the year.
“It’s almost sad,” Souderton Borough Council President Brian Goshow said at the board’s Sept. 4 meeting.
“Went fast,” Steve Coll, public works director, agreed.
This was the first full year the pool was open after extensive renovations and upgrades were completed the beginning of last summer.
“It has become a community meeting place, which is really neat to see,” Goshow said.
The Sept. 4 meeting also included a ceremonial check passing from Univest for the $100,000 the Soudertonbased banking and insurance company has donated to the pool project.
“We try to be good neighbors, so when we see opportunities in this community, we try to step up,” Kenneth Hochstetler, Univest senior vice president, said. “We’re here tonight to really offer congratulations to you, the borough, on a successful project.”
Goshow said Univest was
