Man charged with raping 14-year-old
Charges that a 45-year-old Souderton man raped a 14-year-old girl were held for court following a Sept. 13 preliminary hearing, online court records show.
Michael Cardillo, of Green Street, was taken to Montgomery County Prison with bail set at $50,000 following the hearing before District Judge Kenneth Deatelhauser, Souderton, according to the information.
Cardillo is accused of rape, statutory sexual assault, sexual assault, corruption of minors, indecent assault, possession of a controlled sub- stance, possession of drug paraphernalia, furnishing liquor to a minor and providing tobacco to a minor.
$FFRRGLQJ WR WKH DIfiGDYLW RI probable cause, the girl, who lives LQ HDWfiHOG, WROG SROLFH LQ $SRLO that Cardillo, a family friend, had given her cigarettes in September of 2011, then placed his hands on her buttocks during a party in October of that year. In March 2012, she said, he gave her two beers and they smoked “several bowls” of marijuana at his home. While sleeping on a couch at his home, she said, she was awakened by Cardillo being on top of her and he raped her, according WR WKH DIfiGDYLW.
When Cardillo was interviewed, DFFRRGLQJ WR WKH DIfiGDYLW, KH VDLG KH had given the girl cigarettes in the past and gave her “a sip” of beer at his home, but said it had been more than six months since he had marijuana at his home and that he uses rolling papers, not bowls, to smoke marijuana.
The girl’s aunt said her niece told her sometime between January and March that Cardillo had made advances to her and, in May, said that he had raped her three or four weeks EHIRRH, DFFRRGLQJ WR WKH DIfiGDYLW.
Cardillo’s formal arraignment in Norristown is scheduled for Oct. 24, according to the online records.
