Joanna Benner scored two of Dock’s three goals in the opening 30 minutes and the eighth-seeded Pioneers shut RuW viViWiQJ 1R. 9 LRwHU Moreland 3-0 in the District 2QH CODVV AA fiUVW URuQG Tuesday afternoon.
“We had a sore loss the last game after a great win WKH fiUVW JDPH WKDW wH SODyHG them. So, we wanted to come out to districts strongly,” Benner said. “We had a good break last week and so we wanted to just show them in the beginning that we can dominate this game. And that’s what we did, we came out strong.”
Taylor Schwoyer added a goal on a penalty stroke as Christopher Dock is back in WKH GiVWUiFW TuDUWHUfiQDOV DIWHU a one-year absence. The Pioneers visit top-seeded Villa 0DUiD — wKiFK KDG D fiUVWround bye — Thursday. A victory over the Hurricanes puts Dock in the Class AA VHPiV IRU WKH fiUVW WiPH ViQFH 2008.
“It’ll be a tough game. They’re very good, they’re very quick, they’re very fast and they’re very experienced,” said Dock coach Michelle Waldspurger of Villa 0DUiD. “6R, wH’OO GHfiQiWHOy be challenged.”
For the Pioneers, it was the fiUVW WiPH WKHy KDG VFRUHG DW least three goals in the game since blanking Plumstead Christian 3-0 on Sept. 28.
“We’ve been having trouble capitalizing in the circle like this whole season,” Benner said. “So it was great to be able to come out right away and get some goals because it hasn’t been that way pretty much the whole season.”

“They came out strong, they wanted to win bad,” said Waldspurger of her team’s district effort. “My seniors have played well this season and they wanted to take it to them. They played well.”
