CONCLUSION

-

Viewsonic’s PX747-4K DLP projector delivers bright, crisp Ultrahd pictures at the strikingly low price of $1,260. But while the projector’s powerful light output lends extra oomph to image highlights when displaying HDR programs, poor contrast and an inability to display an extended color range means it can’t compete with the higher-priced 4K competition when watching movies. On the plus side, the relatively low input lag of Viewsonic’s budget 4K beamer, combined with better- than-average brightness, make it a good option for gaming and casual video viewing. If either of those use cases appeal to you, you may want to check out the PX747-4K.

The Verdict

Viewsonic’s budget 4K beamer delivers bright, detailed 4K images with HDR, but limited contrast and color display capability make it a less-than-stellar choice for home theater use.
